You were here : Death Poetry

written by Poet : wildpony

YOU ARE HERE

The world is empty now,

Mourning for what was taken away

In a split second.

What was lost,

Is shown in the gifts you left behind,

Without fear, without hesitation,

All the gifts that remain and are reminders

Of the spirit and passion that you had for life,

And proof that you were here.

Your gentle fingers, and your keen eyes

Captured the essence of life, of all that you saw,

A creative and talented woman,

Bringing sunshine to all.

Your passion for colors, and the joy

For the simple things in life, representing

Itself in the music your ears heard,

The sights you took in, the aura around you,

And the people you admired. Your beauty loving

Disposition are indicative of the fact that you were here.

You sang of a career,

Your hopes and dreams were yours,

Having the talent and drive to see them through,

Symbols of suits and briefcases, dreams of professionalism;

The bars and ropes you chinned on for the mere fun of it,

The music your body moved to,

Spoke of your zest and passion for life;

Your hopes and dreams remain, and speaks volumes,

The truth remains that you were here.

You were all at home on the fields,

Sounds of the crowd cheering

And going wild,

The smell and the thrill of victory,

The adrenaline rush.

The fields that your youthful feet ran on,

Is a comforting reminder that you were here.

The words that were uttered,

Jokes and wisecracks,

Are a testimony

Of the light hearted touch

You went through life…

The words that were uttered

Throughout your short lives,

Overshadow the words

That we'll no longer hear from you,

There is no silence,

For you were here.

You were here.

You were here,

We have the memories to demonstrate it,

You were here, if only for a short time;

Do not fear for us, the ones left behind,

For you are still here.

DEDICATED TO THE CHILDREN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE CARDROSS, MILDURA TRAGEDY IN FEBRUARY 2006.
