A Tissue : Family Poetry

written by Poet : Theresa Fiorenza

Still another writing I found from when my Grandma died last year:

As I sat on a chair next to Grandma's bed Thursday evening, tears flowing from my eyes I reached for a tissue. When I held it in my hand I smiled. I picked up a pen and piece of paper and dealt with the situation in the only way I knew how. Grandma's gone fom us now but this is how I choose to remember her....

A tissue.

Who would think such significance could be placed on it?

Her hand always held one.

If your nose was stuffy she could take care of it.

If you shed tears she could wipe your eyes.

And now, in this hour, it seems we are all holding a part of her.

Her love and memories held in our hands.

A tissue.
