"What did you do?" Naika exclaimed. Kira had now laid the man on the floor, trying to stop his seizures.
"Nothing," Kira replied, her voice calm yet her hands were quick but careful as she scooped out the foam from the man's mouth, trying to create an airway. Yet the man still flopped about.
Chilly knelt down beside Kira and noticed the man's hand. He was clutching a small syringe. "It's this," he said, grabbing at the man's hand and snatched the syringe away. "What did you do?" he demanded of the man, "What's this about? Who's the fallen angel?" His questions fell on deaf ears, though, as the man gave a strangled sigh and went still.
"Shit, dead!" Chilly swore. He quickly stood up and glared at the man.
"What was that all about?" Naika said softly, staring at the dead man as well. Her eyes then went to Kira, who stood up. The man's words echoed in her head. Was he referring to Kira? What did he know about her?
"We must complete the mission," was all Kira said. She looked at Naika. "Let's find if there are any main computers around. We'll just copy the files and leave."
"Sure," Naika said. She stood up and went to the computers again, quickly searching anything that could help them finish their job soon. "Here," she said, clicking open a folder. "There's an underground facility. All the files might be there." And so, with their weapons ready in case there were any more of them hiding, they went down through a staircase Naika indicated in the map she found.
There was only one level in the underground facility, and strange enough, composed of only a few rooms. Those they were able to unlock and look around, but with the sparse furnishings, they merely looked like receiving rooms. At the last room, they finally found several computers still functioning, and Naika quickly went to work. Chilly went around the room's area to check further, while Kira merely stood in the middle of the room. "All of the rooms here are like sitting rooms, except for this," he thought aloud, "I wonder why is that?"
"Not really sure," Naika said. She pulled a cable line from her backpack and plugged it into one of the computer's slots. The screen started to show the files being copied onto her portable drive. "But whatever they're doing, it's like they only come here for meetings. Most of the files here are encrypted, but I might be able to crack them when we get back."
"But what kind of meetings? Why do it here in Siberia of all places, for the ambiance?" Chilly said. He could not think of a reason of having an outpost so remote and be almost empty but for some guards and encrypted files. Idly he reached over to touch a framed picture that seemed to be a class picture, showing around fifty students arranged in rows. Not one of them was smiling.
Suddenly, one of the walls pulled back. It showed a hidden room, filled with red carpeting and thick curtains. In the middle of the room was a strange symbol. Chilly and Naika looked up in shock, but not in the room. They stared at Kira.
She was now slumped on the floor, fainted.
