Genetic Fold
By Sharon T. Collins
My genes they cannot verify,
How I should live, or I should die.
They cannot choose a path to take,
Without my thoughts to guide them.
They think they have me figured out,
But I have got them fooled.
I do not inherit their fixations,
I am the one that rules.
Truthfully, I guess I'll share,
With you, my genes, that I do bear.
Forever passing them along,
Lest they should grow, Forever strong.
And never, ever, weaken me,
As others grow upon my tree.
