| The coming of television was to deliver us from evil, Instead it was manipulated and led us into temptation. The sponsors covet it to showcase their products, No controversy--only happy endings and conforming conduct. Exploiting our mental weakness and arousing our basest passions, They induced us to want more than we need for economic expansion. Television commercials, what have they done, Are they mind bending or are they just fun? Do they do their job and pass out information, Or have they become our highest source of inspiration? How man uses the airwaves is his test of success. The North Irish Protestants, and the North Irish Catholics, Would fight for a chance to have their view expressed. The Israelis, the Arabs, and the Palestinians, so bold, Would be willing to die to have their story told. History would be different if the Iranians against the Shah, Or the Sandinistas against Samoza in the villages of Nicaragua, Could have made their crying heard to us all. The airspace was filled with sitcoms, sports, and sexy soap operas. Television ads instruct us to speak with a lively chatter, To carry ourselves tall and to walk with a swagger. They keep us sophisticated, empty, and full of exuberation. They don't want to be cultivating our emancipation From a life of confusion, darkness, psychoses, frustration. It'a a well oiled and well designed elaboration, Billions are spent in denying us substance or education. Television commercials, what have they done, Are they mind bending or are they just fun? Do they do their job and pass out information, Or have they become our highest source of inspiration? We transmit globally radio, television, and online with PC's In the march of time these are new discoveries. Each providing man a greater degree of dignity, Now they provide us opportunity to see Life's goal is not more consumption, comforts, or security, It's the development and expression of our individuality. Our future demands we spend our energy creatively. |
