when that hand doesn’t lift a finger?
What the hell good is it to pull a band-aid slow
except to cause the pain linger?
What the hell good is someone to warm your bed
if they’re often too drunk to find it?
What the hell good is it to heed advice
from someone who’s full of shit?
What the hell good is it to continue the company
that has nothing decent to say?
What the hell good is it to lean on someone
while they’re constantly walking away?
What the hell good is it to keep a friend
if in truth they actually don’t like you?
What the hell good is it to help someone out
if they don’t care if you do?
What the hell good is it to offer respect
when that regard hasn’t been earned ?
What the hell good is it to be taught a lesson
if that lesson is never learned?
What the hell good is a road sign
when the driver of the car is blind?
What the hell good is moving forward
when you drag dead weight behind?
