Valentine Smile : Holiday Poetry

Valentine Smile

My Valentine box

once held Cheerios,

now was decorated

In reds and gold’s.

Anticipating candy hearts

and cards with Looney Toons,

the box sat at my desk

in Mrs. Ward’s classroom.

The class all stood in line

and we passed out our treats,

then started the tearing

when we sat back in our seats.

I opened mine carefully

chewing some Valentine gum,

then to my delight

I found a special one!

It was covered with X’s.

It was covered in O’s.

Their were hearts and lace

and it reeked of cologne.

It said, quite simply,

“You smile pretty, Love Keith.”

So I gazed across the room,

giving him my brightest smile…

without my front teeth!
