The Void
The world just keeps on spinning
life has to go on
all my heart seems to know
is my Andrea is gone.
Every day I feel like you’re hiding
in the clothes rack at the store
but I’m not told , “Here I am mommy!”
You are just lost, forevermore.
Oh, I can hide the pain better
arrange a face for the outside to see
but, it’s just a mask I use to hide
the scars, that exist inside of me.
You’ve been gone almost a year now
but, you were my baby yesterday
thank God for the memories of you
they bear me through each day.
I have become more forthright
I just say what I want to
I figure the worst has already happened
the moment that I lost you.
Your Dad, well he is trying
their is a hollow look in his eyes
no one can tell you how to survive
when you have a child that dies.
You would be proud of Travis
he worked hard to make laws modify
so people don’t have to suffer
and fewer tears we’ll need to cry.
Hayle went to State this year
she wrote a speech about you
and exposed her soul to the world
it was such a brave thing to do.
Nicholas made his First Communion
he’s nearly through second grade
Nick loves to go to the bank
and cash the checks he’s been paid!
Not a moment goes past me
that I don’t feel you near
but, Andrea… oh my Andrea
I long for you to be here.
The world just keeps on spinning
life has to go on
but, nothing ever fills the void
in my heart… where you belong.
.
