The Pager Prayer

Hail to the dedicated few

in many small towns

as mine.

For carrying fashionable pagers

on there pants

all the time.

For putting off warm meals,

family events and nights

of coveted sleep.

For being interrupted

to answer a call

at the ole’ familiar beeeep!

For the times you brave

the elements to help those

who request.

For the hours you practice

to keep your skills

at their very best.

Thanks to the volunteers

and blessings

to the families in wait.

A prayer for the silent crews

who serve us all-

whatever fate.
