A License to Leave
She is out of my reach
Ditching me
Crashing the door
Never thought
The day would come
She would journey alone
I feel the need
To keep her harnessed
I am a wreck
She requires independence
I can’t keep her protected
I steer toward faith
As she operates the metal
Her life in the hands
Of a maneuvering wheel
I let her depart
She exits the driveway
The sacrifice is mine
It’s a key to passage
A parent endures
That Signals
The voyage of time.
