Let Autumn Fall
I once would celebrate
The spice in the air
A warm fire at night
Neath’ the harvest moon’s sight
Now the season brings upon it
The burden of demise
The flames on the hillside
A mockery to my eyes
The truth of the barren
Desiccated on the ground
The promise of the winter
A comforting sound
From July I have waited
Devour my frozen heart I plea
Let autumn’s season fall
And may winter swallow me
Take me to the place my soul lives
Away from the splendor of thee
Let me find ease in the empty
Among the branches of misery’s tree.
