Knowledge
I arouse like the bud
on a foundling tree in spring
A new life full of promise
in my awakening.
Then years fled as the winds changed
I reached toward the sky
though I had not the wisdom
as the aged Old Oak nearby.
I was happy to have shed
the seed that opened my life from earth
and put beyond me the past
from which came my birth.
Till’ the copious shade of my days
began descending to the ground
and left me barren in recognition
the knowledge Old Oak had found.
Now I can welcome the changes
in the seasons of my time
and appreciate my beginning
from the juncture that is mine.
