He passed by the corner in his Army Uniform
and looked up at the clock which had long been stopped.
He continued to walk down along Etna Drive
when suddenly out of the blue a bomb was dropped.
A rooftop collapsed and fell down on the pavement below
killing the young soldier home on leave.
A tragic truth and yet who could have predicted this would happen.
It is hard on those who grieve.
Time waits for no one even though for many years
nobody had heard a chime ring or a tick-tock.
The soldier had been laid to rest and the war ended.
They rebuilt the roof and fixed the broken clock.
