Walking With My Mother : Mother Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

We walked my sisters to nursery school with  baby in the pram .

My Mothers voice calmly said ,

"We're late " - then she took me by the hand .

The chill of an Autumn wind revived our pale cheeks along the way ,

Oh but I can still hear my Mother say ,
" It's a beautiful day .

Hello Mrs Mc Afee and how are you today .?"

No answer .

The drunk at the corner would say  ,

"Have you got a few coins to spare ?"

No answer .

We'd meet Mrs Agnew who wanted to talk all day .

"I'm sorry Mrs Agnew I'm running  late my Mother would say .

No answer .

Then across the road we would walk and through the little streets to where ,.

My sisters would be left and I would return home with my Mother .
