The infantry on the sideline watched uniforms gathering dust .
They had been trained for combat duty and so tough that they could rust ,
Restrained from active engagement and professionally frustrated ,
hoping to be called up and as an infantry reinstated .
Meanwhile they're playing cricket and training recruits who come to fight ,
And dress them In brand new uniforms and they looked the part all right .
The new recruits were young and smart and eager to start their training
With an experienced sergeant who slowly began explaining .
Why discipline is important by soldiers of the infantry .
The sergeant stood them in a line and studied each one carefully .
Then he called each one by name
"Soldier "
he said ,
"Obey and protect ."
"Yes sir "
All the recruits replied .
While the infantry played cricket .
