Too Young To Die : Lyric Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Too Young To Die

by Paul McCann

Well the kids are gone and I’m getting on .

I pay someone to cut the lawn ,

Most my friends they’ve all died

and passed on to the other side .

Life and love are just like that .

You give it all and all for what .

An asset test or a pension card ,

no benefits for working hard .

I’ll try to remain  positive as long as I have life to live .

I’ll be singing to myself .

Happiness is my good health .

The cost of livings way too high .

Too old to work too young to die .

Just last week I had a fall  ,

on my knees I had to crawl .

I couldn’t find my walking stick .

I worried until I was sick .

I can’t tell you how I felt ,

on the ground calling for help

The cost of dying so I’m told

is what you get for growing old  .

Hey  hey my oh my  I’ve still got my kite to fly

and I’m much too young , too young to die .
