To Catch The Wind : Childrens Poetry

Where does the wind come from
and where does it go to?
I saw it in the schoolyard,
yesterday it blew .

The flag on the flagpole
was fluttering fast,
when the wind stopped blowing,
"Where did it go?" I asked .

Someone said it died ,
but that didn't make much sense .
The wind returned
and blew down half of our school fence .

"It's not around here"
Said the schoolboy with a kite .
"I'm sick of trying to get my kite up in flight"

I went to the groundsman
who was sweeping up leaves ,
"Do you know where the wind went"?
He rolled up his sleeves .

"I'm glad it's gone
and hope it stay's away
"Said he ,
He pointed to the spot
of a fallen down tree .

So it was back into class
that I had to go .
"The reason my hat's not on my head well you know ,

It's because the wind had taken it away Sir .
I have asked everybody everywhere,

But there's no one knows where the wind went with my hat
"The teacher smiled and said ,
"There's no answer to that"
