I respected my Dad for who he was .
Things were much different back then because ,
Of the ideals in life that we lived by .
I was never embarrassed of my dad .
I was proud to be with him as a lad .
He had something that you couldn't deny .
I was encouraged by what my Dad said .
His words were few but what wisdom they weighed.
The virtues he strived for I'll also try .
I never challenged his authority .
I guarded his pride and his dignity .
And treasured what I was influenced by .
