The Mist Tree : Childrens Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

In a forest grew a Mist Tree once upon a time .
honey cobwebs hung there, where the sun refused to shine.
The birds who used to sing of the Mist Trees honey hive .
Where captured by the Spiders who kept the tree alive,
The huge honey spiders stole the songs the birds all sang
And gave them to the Puppet King ,
who on strings did hang.
The moment that he heard the songs to the ground he fell
And threw the songs of the birds into the wishing well.
The owner of the well was as happy as could be
to hear the songs the birds sang to the lovely Mist Tree
Eventually the sun shone where honey cobwebs hung
and some strange new shadows now around the forest clung.
When the birds songs they where stolen from the wishing well
The Puppet King's reflection in the water did tell
Somewhere there is a place where the sun refused to shine
I heard the songs of the Mist Tree once upon a time .
