She was washed up on the shore lying upon the sand Long hair fell across her shoulders , her tail not meant for land .
She tried to speak but her murmur ,I could not understand She pointed to a pirate ship ,then clenched her open hand . She shook her fist and then I saw the anger on her face . I carried her back into the cave, no mans eyes had seen . I dressed the mermaids injury ,where some harpoon had been . Soon she was better ,and was fit to return to the sea . She flipped farewell with her tail and swam away to the sea . I watched the sky 'til the sun slipped away and out of sight . In the morning I awoke from a deep and peaceful rest . Gold and diamonds where filled to the top of this massive trunk .
