The Final Blow : Divorce Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Well I didn’t want to leave and you should know  that I believed in love and what was said

but you gave back everything that you ever  promised

and left me abandoned , and betrayed .

You made it clear to me that you didn’t love me and left my heart in pieces on the  floor

So I just picked myself up and  shook myself down

and walk away with nothing from the door   .

The cruel thing is that I didn’t know  and I trusted in the promises we had

made

And then the final blow hit me when you smiled and said

Goodbye , its over ,

our love is dead

But like a phoenix rising from the ashes

I saw the sky above me and I was free .

The final blow was when I  flew away
where freedom was waiting for someone just like me ..
