Lights flashed at the check point as all the traffic slowed,
the soldier pointed to the far side of the road.
The driver of the car suddenly took off fast,
in a few seconds there came an almighty blast.
There was a bomb in the car that refused to stop.
My ears felt as if they were just going to pop.
Scattered was every thought by the sudden fright.
Further on down the road there was a tragic sight;
A car upside down with people blown away.
There at the checkpoint it was just another day.
