Summers Toast From An Old Glass : Inspirational Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

I can remember summer when I was younger and stronger,

My only regret is that I never enjoyed it longer .

Even though life in a nursing home is comfortably good .

Id like to be down at the beach and think if only I could .

So I treasure the all those summer  times and all that I have done .

The nice thing about being old is you're not the only one.

I'm lucky to have friends my age to share summer day and night .

We spend times playing bingo and hope we get our numbers right .

Sometimes when we're walking to our room we need a helping hand .

Its like surfing on the water but left dumped upon the sand

But I'm happy to have enjoyed summertimes long before I'm dead .

I'm not sorry for the risks I taken or the things I've said .

I'm sorry you never knew me back when I was fit and fast .

Let me propose a toast  ,

to the summer and long may it last  .
