Summer In Australia
When summer comes to this land Bodies lay on the golden sand
Surfing , fishing and fun until the summers done
In summer down under it’s really a wonder .
There’s so much going on
Cricket
Bowls on the lawn
But here in this big place There so much more to face
Drought
Dust lies in water holes -Farmers play out new roles
Bushfires
Like a monster it came taking all in its flame’
Sparks fly and in a flash all that’s left is black ash .
Mother Nature
There is no future here on Earth if Mother Nature can’t rebirth
The Outback
Its just a dry terrain out where there is no rain
Only the sticks remain the outback is its name
In The Scrub there’s a pub
There’s no shower just a tub
Dust storms
In those red dusty days
That block out the suns rays
We must stand together
In all our strange weather
Floods
A real double whammy is an Inland tsunami
In places that were as dry and hot as .
Imported salami
Hot nights and sweaty sheets
People out on the streets
Beer gardens
Back packers
Beach parties
Fire crackers
Summer is everywhere
Like the air that we share
Tropical Cyclones – Monsoons
Rides in hot air balloons
Mango trees , wallabies
A cool southerly breeze
Big red kangaroos
Long thin didgeridoos
Blow flies and barbecues
A late night harbour cruise
Waratahs , pink galahs
Skin that goes as red as .
Scorching sun beating down
Ice cold drinks handed round
You’ll hear what’s going on
Cicadas all day long
Kookaburras giggle
See frill neck lizards wriggle in the summer in Oz
If you ever wonder why the answer is because ,
This is a massive land
Flanked by sun ,surf and sand .
With such diversity yet we all understand
the beauty of this place with many different views
from the inner tracks to the concrete avenues .
A Poem
