Seven Quarters Of A Recession : Modern Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

As debt walks out of its the cradle and then out the front door .

The little debt has just begun to ask for something more .

So it comes to the city where someone will pay the way .

The first quarter of debt is now the end of trading day .

Debt grows and cries for more of what the stock markets can bring .

Like a baby with hunger it devours everything .

So what does debt  expect from the world , if not poverty .

So don't expect profit when theres downturn in currency  .

Its hard for debt to step back and remember how it was,

walking in the gloom with a second quarter filled with flaws .

Debt fights off many surges and remains in figures red .

The third quarter comes and goes no one is getting ahead .

Debt kills the competition and the fourth quarters alive  .

Hard times are a plenty running on empty to survive .

It takes courage in the hard times to face up to the truth.

All those who are in debt are confronted with living proof .

Under threat of recession the fifth quarter races away  .

Debt has grown globally like a lion stalking its prey .

The bail out plan  begins to work and its sixth quarter time .

The recession is almost over and debt is dying .

The hunter has lost its hold and the victim is set free .

The seventh quarter reminds us how good things used to be .
