School Lunch : Childrens Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

For a while you can hardly hear a sound

in every corner of the school ground small groups sit together

for their lunch break .

Little treats and surprises begin to come out from lunch boxes .

There's chocolate, fresh fruit and maybe a special slice of cake .

Swapping and sharing food with friends often happens because

Lunch breaks are too short and there's too much to eat and no time to play.

Another thing is that we're too busy during lunch time .

So instead of bringing it home, sometimes food is just thrown away .

Kicking balls and skipping .

Little children at play in the school yard .

The noise of chatter mixed with laughter is one happy tune .

Running  around outside for a while .

They are having as much fun as possible,

before its time to return back to the classroom .
