School In The Slums

The number of students living in slums have grew
There are many schools in slums that people go to .
Some schools are built with timber and others with bricks .
But slum schools have dirt floors with their roofs made with sticks .
In the slum there is no canteen or a school bus
But nobody in slum schools ever make a fuss .
Many slum students have no books to call their own .
They have no computer or TV set at home .
Teachers in slum schools are mostly from a mission .
They turn a blind eye and they take time to listen .
Slum schools are usually overcrowded and small .
Everyone must fit somehow one and all .
Although its difficult everyone keeps their cool
Although its hard in the slum they still go to school .
With determination they get education .
And even find some creative inspiration .
Schools in the slums can provide an exit away
from an existence where people live day by day
without using good grammar or a ball point pen .
or without the ability to count to ten .
At school in the slums learning can be lots of fun .
Students that go to slum schools can be old and young .
And they are learning lots of new things they can do ,
Just the basic skills that will help them make it through .
With knowledge there can be a way out of the slum ,
Where many hardships in life can be overcome .
