Rory Gallagher's Blues : New Wave Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Blues was the story that Rory liked to tell ,

With fingers on the frets he made could make it yell .

He took the blues on the road and made it pay .

The Irish bluesmaster blew them all away .

The old twelve bar rifts brought a deafening roar ,

When he left the stage the crowd always screamed more .

He captured their hearts with a feel of his own .

He took Tony Joe White and added a tone .

His blues were wild and little bit shady .

Too much alcohol and his tattooed lady .

From Belfast to Dublin just as the crow flies ,

With the world at his feet and stars in his eyes .

He toured around Europe and recorded live ,

In the fast lane he went into overdrive

On the western plain at the end of the day

Easy come and easy go he lived that way .
