Prisoner Of Self : Religious Poetry

Lord keep my mind sane and my body free from pains .
Keep my footsteps close together and not in chains .
Keep my back covered from the whip of tongue lashes .
May the seconds that haunt me tick by in flashes .
As if I have never heard every word said .
As if I have never tasted pain in my head .
As if I have never said let this cup pass by .
As if I have never sipped the tears that I cry .
I am reaching out with these shackles on my hands .
Inside my broken heart love never understands .
Speak to me in the silence but suffer me not
Who I really am is the person I forgot .
So let me be myself again do not mock me.
I am trying to escape ,
Jesus set me free .
