"Experimenting with expression is a brilliant way to inspire our writing . Poetry is a fantastic medium for this process . Using form and structure in poetry sets the bar with discipline .
How high is a poetic edge ? "
I would like to introduce you toa poetry structure I created called One Word .
In this structure of poetry the same word at the beginning of each line in the poem becomes the title of the poem .
Poem 1
Who Benefits By Paul McCann
Who benefits from an armies presence and new laws on the street ? Who benefits in an unfair fight when they are oppressed and weak ? Who benefits from the war and all the changes that go with it ? Who benefits from fear and terrorism and dictatorship ? Who will benefit from the new laws and the justice that will come ? Who can benefit from healing hurts and reconciliation ? Who will benefit from an inheritance of wrongs from the past ? Who benefits most from a stray bullet fired, or from a bomb blast ? Who benefits from chastisement or a cruel kind of governing? Who benefits from a peaceful life and an end to suffering ?

Poem 2 No Paul McCann
No surprises . No compromises . No nuisance . No chancers . No answers . No sport . No court . No correction . No compensation you see .
No sign of peace . No hostage release . No hello No where to go . No freedom . No heavy gun . No weigh on the shoulder . No self guilt . No innocent blood spilt . No mobs to meet . No war . No more . No home for the soldier . No night sights . No fire fights . No education No communication . No finger of fate No escape, its just insane . No patrol . No dole . No missions to fulfil . No shoes to fill . No half way . No sir because there's no bags full down the lane . No sir that's correct . No one understands . No kind helping hands . No wonder words in anger arise . No to ignorance . No, not a chance . No one has lost life in vain . No pain . No gain . No remembrance flame ever dies .

Poem 3 Terror By Paul Mc Cann
Terror is a monster from hell . Terror never asks are you well . Terror has no moral or truths . Terror has been briefly let loose . Terror is a child with a gun . Terror has beheaded someone . Terror is a suicide bomb . Terror is where worst fears comes from . Terror is a threat at the door . Terror is a cancerous sore . Terror is a war with a cost . Terror are the lives we have lost . Terror has the world on an edge . Terror is an end to a pledge . Terror is an error of life . Terror is a blade of a knife . Terror is a weapon of war . Terror is what evil stands for . Terror hides its face in a hood . Terror must be destroyed for good .

Poem 4 Perhaps By Paul McCann
Perhaps if I smile maybe you will too .
Perhaps in a while you'll fell like I do .
Perhaps if I cry my tears will run dry .
Perhaps we could try and see eye to eye .
Perhaps you might say I'll see things your way .
Perhaps for a change it will be ok .

Poem 5 A Soldier By Paul Mc Cann
A soldier has the courage to stand alone and try . A soldier never asks why he has to fight to or die . A soldier must combat daily in order to live A soldier never understands the reasons they give . A soldier keeps an eye out pretending to be dumb . A soldier locks up feelings until they're almost numb A soldier looks ahead far beyond the city slum . A soldier sees the bright side never all the glum . A soldier protects the vulnerable and even more . A soldier is at risk on another foreign shore .

Poem 6 Peace By Paul Mc Cann
Peace is an easy path to tread . Peace is where our fears are mislaid . Peace for all the victims of war . Peace is beginning to restore . Peace for each man, woman and child . Peace for the troubled streets gone wild . Peace is for the old and the young . Peace in the end will over come . Peace builds trust into a lifestyle . Peace is a friendly open hand . Peace is a place to understand . Peace in the end will over come . Peace is for the old and the young . Peace is a legacy to leave . Peace is when we don't have to grieve ,. Peace is and end to all the hate . Peace is why we negotiate .
