I turned around and reached out my hand
Peace be with you I said to the stranger before me .
May peace be with you too he replied
and may your peace along with mine flow easy and free .
I sat down in my seat a lot more relaxed and thought ,
Being perplexed is no way to be .
I imagined peace to be a river running
between the borders of humanity .
Without peace in our communities there is no way on Earth
that we can ever be free .
Without peace and love there is no longer harmony
Love is a place where we can be free .
I have faith and hope that one day we will
achieve a lasting peace for all the world to see .
I stood there in the church as the priest blessed us thinking
I must pray for that peace constantly .
Peace to the world this Christmas ,
Peace that this world cannot give and with this peace we can be free
When mass was over I exchanged a smile and
a hello to the stranger there before me .
