The rain pelted down and the relay race began ,
Around the track the first three runners ran .
USA were well in front with one change to go .
The gold medal was in sight , then , oh no.
The baton was passed and slipped from the runners hand ,
To the ground it fell as if in quicksand .
The gold medals disappeared no more to be seen .
So this story had ended with a twist ,
The end of a dream and the gold medal was missed.
