New Set Of Rules For New Years Day : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

No war on New Year’s Day – and that’s an order.
No one’s listening.
No more ultimatums other than the ones that we’re issuing.
No where to hide for terrorists as the old year’s ready to leave.
No fireworks except for the bombs and the gunfire on New Year’s Eve.
No more excuses and no reprisals in what the world can see.
No answers,
No promises,
No changes as it’s how it must be.
No justice for innocent victims for whose virtues pay the dirt.
No better protection than prevention.
No body getting hurt.
No credit where it’s due.
No more crying the tears are wiped away.
No drinking on guard duty and especially on New Year’s Day.
No sobriety except for the righteous who are never wrong.
No shooting back unless told to do so, soldiers have be strong.
No point talking with all of that loud hip house music going on.
No sympathy for those who will not change their own situation.
No rewards for dead heroes.
No one is ever to feel secure.
No place for ignorance in the army.
No one is allowed to look bad.
No one is to be old or aged
No one is allowed to go mad.
No excuses for not relaxing and finding recreation.
No one is ever to give up hope for the next generation!
No you can’t disobey a command.
No you don’t have a say.
No you can’t go home soldier just because you say it’s New Year’s Day.
