Mothers Hot Chocolate : Mother Poetry

written by Writer : Paul McCann

I couldn't sleep at all and I called out in the night ,

Mum came in and asked me if everything was all right .

When I said I couldn't sleep she took me from my bed ,

And brought me down the stairs

"Hot chocolate will help  "

She said .

When she went in the kitchen I took a look outside ,

It was dark and deserted .

Somewhere a stray cat cried .

The snow fell in the street and the wind seemed icy cold ,

I sat and thought about a hot drink that soon I'd hold .

My Mother boiled the milk and put a mug on a tray ,

I could almost taste that hot chocolate coming my way .

Throughout the house the smell of hot chocolate filled the air .

My mother brought a tray of biscuits for us to share .

The hot chocolate soon arrived and brought to me a smile ,
Firelight and good company for  Mother and her child .

Late nights and  hot chocolate  in my Mother's cosy home ,

I was like a night owl with both my eyes wide open .

Though the day had gone away now sleep would still not will not come ,

Times like this are special for a Mother and a son  .

I sipped down the hot chocolate my Mother made for me ,

And her fingers stroked my hair as gentle as could be .

Next thing I knew my Mother put me back into bed ,

And I heard her softly whisper ,

"Good night son . "

She said .
