Fireworks exploded and the birds nest erupted in Beijing
In mid air performers were hanging suspended on a string .
The stadium was a carnival of colourful motion ,
Charismatic cartwheels of time within an ancient ocean .
Depicting a myth and igniting a flame for all to see .
Drum sticks with gentle fluorescents ever so slightly thumping .
Wasn't it great ?
The opening ceremony in Beijing .
