Love In A Noose : Sad Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

They sat at the bar in civilian clothes having a few drinks.

Some pretty girls in the corner were sending over their winks.

In a while they began to smile and their war was over there.

An easy entice is love at a price if some soldiers dare.

Off duty then those warm blooded men all decided to go.

They left hand-in-hand with the girls who had planned to say hello,

But instead of hello they were sent to say farewell that night.

The girls brought them to an alleyway they knew was out of sight.

It was the lure of love that cost three soldiers their lives that day.

If love was the reason for this I wonder what she would say,

For a blindfolded promise is one so easily forgot.

Instead of passionate love the soldiers all ended up shot.

Between love and lust there is a walk of the cruellest kind,

Where victims are led up dark alleyways that are always blind.

Some assassin's mind has sent this type of crime out on the loose.

I pity the love that was left hanging for dead on a noose.
