It was Halloween night and he walked up the path .
On the way to the front door he heard a strange laugh.
The house was in darkness but he thought he would try ,
To get a response instead of just walking by .
He rang the door bell and thought of what he would say .
Halloween is a time for trick or treat and play .
He rang the door bell again but still no one came .
So he took a coin and knocked on the window pane .
A dog howled somewhere and the wind began to blow .
Then he saw her , the scary face at the window .
She looked at him and he felt his blood turn to ice .
He knew he had to run and he didn't think twice .
The tree branches pulled at his coat all down the path ,
and the face at the window just started to laugh .
Happy Halloween she screamed and the wind blew cold .
No one ever saw him again,
so I was told .
