Joyfully The Mystery : Christmas Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

 When the announcement was made

 by the angel Gabriel

that she as a virgin was to become the vessel

for a child to be born by the name of  Emmanuel .

Mary knew that she was chosen and it was Gods will ,

for her ,

and she said unto me let thy will be done

 according to thy word .

So she knew that she

would give birth to Gods only son .

Her sister Elizabeth in the  place where she was

so far away had a visit from Mary because ,

She also had a child on the way at an old age .

Who would know the miles

or the hills she had to engage   ,

On the journey to Hebron

or somewhere around there .

She went to share with her sister

what was told to her .

Then Mary crossed the desert

where no roads start or end ,

with Joseph her spouse
and a donkey to Bethlehem .

They travelled on , like refugees,

 a Mother to be .

They searched for a suitable place,

a  sanctuary .

So it came to be that in a stable on the ground ,

the new born king Emmanuel

to earth had come down .

In that special moment

when life's just begins for some ,

Mothers and their children bond together

and become , one in a smile

and one in a gaze from eye to eye  .

An understanding of love ,

something greater on high .

Captured in innocence as foretold by an angel .

Born is the King of kings ,

Bless his name Emmanuel

Oh how joyful the mystery

 that presents the truth .

When God performs miracles

there is no need for proof .

Blessed the name of Jesus

and the day of his birth .

Blessed be Mary Queen of heaven

and Queen of earth .

Blessed be the joy

that never ceases to amaze  .

Blessed be the light that shines  .

Alleluia ,

sing praise .

Blessed be that journey

and the long road they had trod .

Blessed be the virgin Mary, the mother of God .

Blessed be Joseph her spouse

and the little donkey .

Blessed be God and his angels and saints .

Glory be to the father and the son and the holy spirit .

Amen  .

As it is and as it will be .

So be it .
