Jack And The Jolly Green Corporate Giant : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Now Jack worked there at the stock exchange for donkeys years and then ,

The big green giant shut the door and Jacks job came to an end  .

Jack was a cost they could cut back , the jolly green giant said    .

So from the top the axe came down and it cut off poor Jacks head .

The goose that laid the golden egg was killed that desperate day ,

when the corporate giants debts increased and banks refused to pay .

So Jack went for some welfare , but it  didn't do any good .

Jacks had millions in the bank and welfare money was no good .

Regardless of him crawling on his hands and knees all the way,

Jack was not a needy case , so there was nothing left to say .

The big green giant was greedy and many others followed Jack   .

The welfare was swamped with applicants asking for something back .

Shame on those with millions who say their living in poverty ,

They've got all their golden eggs and still  want more from you and me .

Pity for the  pensioners and the underdogs with nothing ,

They never once complained and somehow always managed a grin.

Here's al friendly word to Jack and all the giant who likes to moan ,

This life you live is based on deposits , but its all on loan .

Money is your middle name but in the end what does it mean ,

When you've lost everything you own and your soul  you can't redeem  .
