His and Hers : Relationship Poetry

When things go wrong in a marriage

its hard to take.         

 But children are so fragile

and their hearts can break .

They don't know what happened

but they accept what is .

Mum and Dad have become

another hers and his .

With a slap on the face 

and a kiss on the cheek .

Hello to Judas and it's goodbye ,

sort to speak  .

But what of the children ,

who are feeling alone .

they still need to feel loved

and a place to call home .

So Daddy smiles and says ,

see you at the weekend .

Don't forget that Daddy

will always be your friend .

How swiftly childhood

innocence can disappear .

Hi-jacked in that moment

when the coast wasn't clear .

If both parents look back

at all the years gone past ,

and know they've done their best

what more can this world ask ?
