He Was Nobodys Fool : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

After spending time at school ,

soon the teachers thought he knew ,

All the things they talked about and all that they tried to do .

But he learned to use his head

and he saw what he could  do .

Then one day , what they tried to say ,

he knew they just weren't  true  .

Listen , they said to him you've got to learn your ABC ,

You must count on the meanings  that are in the dictionary .

Just learn to multiply and also divide and you'll see ,.

For in the end my friend  ,

you'll be nobody's fool like me .

But It took more than adding up,

to fix a broken fence .

He learned to put some hard work in

and use his commonsense .

So the teachers said one day ,

we can't teach you anymore .

Thats when he took his school bag

and he walked right out the door .

He took a chance on farming  ,

bought a tractor and a truck ,

it wasn't that long umtil  the yoing man made his own luck .

He planted in some seeds and ploughed up in another field

In a yearor two  he saw what the good earth it can yield .

So what good's a degree

or qualifications for him ,

as he became a millionaire on the back of a whim   .

He remembers what the teachers said ,

when he went to school  .

But understood his own way  .,

for he was nobodys fool .

 He counted on his talent

and he made a mighty sum ,

He knew exactly what to do

and smart he had become .
