Golden Slipper Day At Rosehill : Sports Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

The Rosehill train arrives ,
Punters have come to play .
There's queues at the turnstiles for Golden Slipper Day .
The sun is always shinning even in the gloom .
April showers and flowers all freshly in their bloom.
Whispers from the horses mouth might just reach your ear,
Maybe they're surprised who the Slipper fits this year
If you love the racetrack them Rosehill is the spot
The punters and the bookies
favourites running hot.
Good luck is a roll when your on a one way trip .
Bad luck is a one way slide if and when you slip .
The sport of kings is open for one and for all.
Come on a merry dance, its the Golden slipper ball
Win or loose its all on the merry-Go-Round race
Rosehill racecourse its an education in grace.
