Ghost House : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

A gang from the ghetto were after me ,

like a cat chasing a mouse.

Frightened for my very life,

I found safety in an  derelict house .

Moonlight shone through a hole in the roof ,

where it landed there on the floor ,

I stayed there until the danger had passed ,

then I headed for the door .
But the family that once used to live there

appeared in front of me  .

These creepy freaks said I had trespassed,

In somewhere where I should not be   .

So I ran for my life out the door and climbed over the wall again .

I ran all night through the dark back streets ,

exhausted and driven insane .

Then morning came and I saw a old man ,

"Are you all right son ?

He said .

" I've seen something but no one would believe me "

 Then he nodded his head.
"He took a swig from a bottle ,

And  winked .

"So you went inside that place ?"

I'm sure he knew and had been there too ,

by the frightened look on his face  .
