Children At Play : Childrens Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Starting at one then off we went.
On pogo sticks our knees where bent
ready to hop,
on with the show.
Swift hopscotch feet can go go go,
Skipping away like billyo.
In our street we had lots of fun
We hit the ball and then we run.
We could make up songs on the spot.
and street games
we made up a lot.
The innocence of our childhood,
when we where young and times were good.
Playing marbles on mucky ground.
Our kaily hoops where spun around.
Bows and arrows and tommy guns,
we went to war as little ones.
In all the streets as children played,
imaginations often strayed.
Those where the days when we were young,
when games were made and songs were sung.
