Celtic Freedom : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Beyond the mists of time
before Celtic freedom had come to stay.
The Britons around Menai straits
lived happy in their own way.
But one day by the edge of that river,
the ripples made a wave .
Surprise fell in the mist,
and laid the Britons in an early grave.
The Gaels like a morning mist,
brought an end to the flight of the night .
Celtic Freedom was victorious
their enemies lost the fight .
The Celts divided their trophies
without fear in their savage heart.
All the heads that rolled where placed on poles
to warn others to depart.
Druids passed by as did Saxons
even Romans left them alone .
Celtic Freedom was never conquered,
it still lives and has a home .
