Back Paddywack : Sports Poetry

written by Poet : Paul McCann

Sure it takes a while to do a country mile,                                                  with a slow pace underfoot .

God give us speed and we'll take the lead
and at the turn we'll give them the boot .

So away we go up to the front
the finest sight that they've ever saw .

I'm on a donkeys back with a haw-haw-hee ,
and a ha- ha, haw-hee-haw !

We were three lengths clear with nothing to fear                                     approaching the last at the rise .

A sight for sore eyes was the Bray donkey ,                                                 Paddywack took them by surprise .
