Because it didn't rain the drought came suddenly .
On the land the effect of drought was there to see .
Because of the drought a decent rain had not come .
Fitzroy falls had been silent much too long for some.
Because of the water shortage the sheep had died .
Water was liquid gold and in the sky did hide .
Because there was no feed livestock was cheap to buy.
As the Highland farmers water supply ran dry,
Because of the bush fires the blue sky split in two
with a cold grey shadow and a reddish black hue .
Because the rain came and fell in a steady flow ,
The people near Fitzroy falls saw a new rainbow .
Because waterfalls are flowing after the rain,
my reflections in a pool are rippled again .
