Once more I will go , beyond the hills of Sligo ,
to Crough Patrick the mountain of heavenly light .
Sins of the pilgrims are left in prayers and hymns on the angels wings where to heaven they take flight .
So t'is there can be heard in the Gaels spoken word ,
an innocence in song being perfectly sung .
Its there Gods love can be found. around this holy ground,
between two peaks where sheltered hopes have been strung .
On the last weekend in August, there's a place if you must ,loose your sins , climbing up a mountain track .
Forgiveness is still ,older than the hills and colder than the frost , amid stones that can't answer back .
As the mountain path travels onwards and upwards , to Crough Patrick ,where in a stone chapel they pray .
The journey is a personal pilgrimage .
Blisters on bare feet .
Silence with stones on the way .
Clouds gather as grey as shale
that cut into the mountain trail , covering the way ,where pilgrims pray.
Barefoot pilgrims with sticks and shawls .
coming to a crawl , to the top there with a grand view of the bay .
A mysterious sight welcomes all those who might ,
climb St Patrick's Mountain beyond County Sligo .
Majestic the sight from its depth to it's height,
God has cradled with the shadows of heavens soft glow .
Such beauty is rare and its no wonder God is there and all you can say is my God glory be .
So dear ones if your mind is set ,to be where prayers are met ,
beyond Sligo, then please say one for me .
