A Common Place : Relationship Poetry

   
If you want to hurt me and treat me unkind

and tell the world that love is better left behind ,

then I think you need to listen instead of

constantly putting me down .

Because our marriage fell to pieces

and you turned me out in the cold  ,

how can we  ever hold the hopes and dreams

our children have found in their heart ,

because we're not around .

There's a place where we can heal  ,

just give it time and you'll see how I feel .

If we can just get along ,

 setting things right , not wrong

we can bring some calm into this stormy weather .

There's a place inside your heart and mind

and if you look maybe you will find  a place

where I hope we can agree

that there's a chance for you and me

 to get along together .
