I remember a day in September when the pacific waters touched my feet
Tiki torches from family porches helped to make the scene complete
The setting sun had just begun to paint the sky with vibrant hues
The tropical wind was free from sin and my heart knew it couldn’t lose
The ocean breeze and tall palm trees both whispered joyous words of love
Old spirits sang in Hawaiian slang, and shined on us from up above
Through an act of will my world stood still and I felt peace within my heart
My souls undaunted spirit wanted nothing more than its desires impart
I had found a common ground with which I wanted to share my life
She had a soul I grew to know and yearned to make that soul my wife
We stood there quaking, knees just shaking, as nervous as two hearts could be
A perfect setting for a wedding with a fading sun over a deep blue sea
I stood there waiting, contemplating, the beauty of this twilight hour
A nervous man that made a plan to complete his life and lose his glower
My heart was racing, my soul embracing the union that was about to be
And in my mind my heart was lined with a love which held my destiny
Her dress of white in the dwindling light looked like strands of pearls upon the sand
Family was there with which to share this joyous day we both had planned
We wore the leis of ancient ways around our necks and in our hair
And pledged our hearts would never part for together we made the perfect pair
The family priest whose wares we leased read prose of loves eternal light
And blessed our souls and marriage goals to ensure our future remained bright
There was no eye that remained dry as each in turn we read our vows
They were filled with praise and loving ways meant for each others hearts to rouse
There was no guise within our eyes, as we proclaimed our love that day
And every ounce of love announced, rang true in each and every way
The very seas calmed and eased out of respect for such a noble love
And as it took flight into the night, it cast its light from high above
We claimed that never would our love dissever and found in each our hearts content
Forever bound to the joy we found, and determined together would our lives be spent
Two souls as one under the setting sun, proclaiming that forever more
We would find a way, with which to stay in love until deaths distant shore
The love we shared can not be compared, and within my heart will always be
A perfect day on that half moon bay when love could tame eternity
I remember that day in September when those pacific waters caressed my feet
Because I was there, without despair, to try and make my life complete.
